Text Design

Two weeks ago Ben filled out a form designed like this:

Blah blah blah blah blah blah __ yes __ no

Blah blah blah blah blah blah __ yes __ no

Blah blah blah blah blah blah __ yes __ no

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah bla__ yes
__ no

[There were just a few less blahs on the actual form]

It was a skim down the line and check “no” type form.

He got down to the last one and put the pen down on the yes line, which would have been very bad.

How did no one catch that?

How many people have accidentally checked yes when they meant to check no?

What issues has this one poorly designed form caused? How many could have been prevented?

GOOD DESIGN DOESN’T REQUIRE BEING ARTISTIC.

Good design requires clarity and attention to detail.
