We fear making moves because we’re afraid we can never go back to the way things were.
It’s the leap.
From the status quo into something new.
It’s uncertain, and humans dislike uncertainty.
The good news is we usually get do-overs.
We can take responsibility.
We can promise to improve.
We can take the feedback from other people and give it another go.
We can learn from mistakes.
The reason we know we can do this is because we’ve all done it before.
The thing we dreaded doing in the past likely went better than we thought it would, or at the minimum, it didn’t go as poorly as we were expecting.
Not always, but most of the time.
Those few times can loom large, but they shouldn’t prevent us from moving forward and making positive change.
