SB150 is a unique year-long celebration for South Bend’s 150th birthday, with the largest event being the Birthday Weekend from May 22-24. We wanted to recap this awesome experience by highlighting many of the main events from the celebration. By incorporating several of our cameras, including our Quad Copter, with an upbeat Ben Folds song (the premier guest of the weekend), and a splash of our unique style, we were able to create the fun, nostalgic video we were hoping for.
Recapping an Incredible Weekend
This project started out as a simple volunteer opportunity for our company to give back to the community. SB150 asked for local businesses to become Celebration Partners to support the city’s birthday by offering something that was unique to their industry. Since we aren’t located in South Bend, and don’t sell merchandise like many of the other Celebration Partners, we took to the drawing board and played to our strengths. The result? An offering of a 1 minute, 50 second recap video from the Birthday Weekend in May. Once we reached out to the SB150 team with our idea, it took off. We got behind the scenes of the weekend and were asked to not only film the mayor, but were also able to work with the Century Center to get some great shots from their building and get up close to the Ben Folds concert with our Quad Copter. Overall, we made some great connections and strengthened others that we had previously. We want to thank everyone that is involved with SB150 and all of the volunteers and their hard work, as well as the Mayor’s office and the Century Center for coordinating with us.
When we first heard about SB150, we wanted to get involved by donating what we thought was going to be a small video project capturing the Birthday Weekend celebration. As I started networking with people involved with SB150, it turned into so much more. After a series of inquiries, over several months, we ended up with the privilege of working with several great organizations, including the South Bend Mayor’s office, SB150, and the Century Center while getting to promote our awesome city at the same time.
With a good mixture of networking and passion, we were able to create a lasting experience for our company while creating something that will (hopefully) last the test of time for South Bend as well. We are so proud to be a part of this city through great organizations like The Rotary Club of South Bend, The St. Joseph County Chamber of Commerce and Michiana Networking.

We want to send a huge thank you to the Mayor’s office who was gracious enough to allow us to get some candid shots with Mayor Pete while filming him zoom down the zip line, as well as the Century Center, who allowed us to get some great shots from their building. And of course, the biggest thank you goes to the SB150 team and all their volunteers who have donated their time, passion, and efforts to create so many events throughout this year to celebrate our great city. It’s influential businesses and organizations like these that make South Bend a great place to call home.
