Our work would benefit from a staple of the food packaging industry.
The expiration date.
Two qualities of the hard-to-read date stand out.
- A deadline.
- Some wiggle room.
The deadline is the sell-by/use-by date.
An internal expiration date would be “when does this need to go out?”
It will help us focus and make sure we get it out before it goes “bad”.
The wiggle room is because people are pleased if the milk doesn’t rot even a day or two after the expiration date.
That’s by design.
UNDER PROMISE, OVER-DELIVER.
If it went bad the day of or the day before the expiration date, people would buy a different kind next time.
Don’t let the bread go bad.
